Special Meeting of the MCDH Board, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006 at 5:30 pm

The MCDH Board of Directors has announced a Special Public Meeting to be held on February 9, 2006. At this meeting, the Board will consider recommendations for decisive action made to it by the Hospital Resource Council (HRC), an independent citizens group, in their presentation at the January 26 Board meeting
The HRC recommends that the Board should...
- Meet at least every two weeks until financial solvency is assured
- Decide quickly on becoming a Critical Access Hospital, a move that would guarantee profitable Medicare payments
- Immediately invite proposals from candidates for affiliation, and decide on which if any proposal to accept by May
- Invite proposals for turnaround assistance from three firms
- Place two members recommended by the Hospital Resource Council on the Board
The HRC believes that the current crisis can be resolved favorably, but only with quick and decisive moves to set deadlines for action, hold management accountable, and infuse the board with fresh initiative.
